NYC Marathon recap:
I ran that marathon. That was cool. It was windy. 4:20.10.
People cheered.
I ate GU.
I ate Jelly Beans.
I was happy when it was over.
I drank beer after the run.
The bus that took me to the start line got lost, hit a police car, and then dropped us off at the wrong spot. So that was great.
Burned 4,150 calories.
Didn't chafe due to putting $10 worth of body lubricant on my skin.
Nip guards are worth every cent.
Wore new socks.
Under Armour athletic boxers are the best thing ever.
I just at a pint of Ben & Jerry's. Not that that has anything to do with the marathon. Maybe I am still hungry from the run.
Went to the gym today. Rode the bike. Legs felt better after. Can't see myself running for another week or so.
Ran the first half in 1:58.....so the second half was a tad slower.
Crowds were better this year than last.
Great to see friends and family out on the course. It was much appreciated.
Boy do my legs hurt.
Too many people on cell phones.
Too many people taking selfies.
Too many people who simply didn't pay attention.
Wind on the Verrazano Bridge was borderline dangerous.
Boy was that ice cream good.
I was happy to see my friends......
I lost 20 pounds training for this race. I plan on keeping them off.
The medal isn't exactly overwhelming.
So many hills. 5th Ave. is brutal. BRUTAL.
So much respect for the disabled athletes out there. Just amazing people without legs or blind or in a wheelchair who go out there and give it everything they have. My hat is off to all of you. Makes you realize you can't take your health for granted.
I went hard for the first 10 miles. HARD. I was trying to bank time before the tougher 2nd half of the race. Didn't quite workout for me.
Broke 10 minute miles.....9:56 pace overall. Not so terrible. Pretty happy with that.
My feet hurt after like I have never felt in my life.
Huge cramp in my hamstring at mile 17.
That's about it. Rough day in the wind. Glad when it was over.
I will probably run another marathon, but I think this is the last time I spend $266 to run NYC. But who knows ? Crazier things have happened.
Oh, and I didn't have to stop to use of Port-o-Potty once. That's a win right there.
